Announcing Spring Baseball Sign-ups!

Next sign-ups are Saturday, Jan. 28, 10 am - 1 pm at Replay Sports!

Sign-up dates for the Napa Cal Ripken & Babe Ruth League baseball programs for the Spring 2012 season are as follows:

•     Saturdays (10 am – 1 pm): December 3; January 14, 28; February 4, 18

•     Wednesday (5-7 pm): November 16;  December 7, January 18; February 1, 15

Sign-ups will be held at Replay Sports, 598 Lincoln Ave.

Tryouts for 11/12 year olds for Cal Ripken and Babe Ruth 13-15 year olds will be held Saturday, February 25th at Silverado Middle School. This also will be the final signup time.

The Cal Ripken-Babe Ruth League has programs for player ages from 6 to 19. The Napa Cal-Ripken-Babe Ruth League is where baseball is being taught the way it is played. Cal Ripken Rookie and Minor divisions play on 60-foot bases, and the Major Division plays on 70-foot bases. In the Majors Division, pitchers are taught to work from the stretch. Players utilize lead offs and stealing bases. Focus is on preparing players for Tournament/Travel style baseball on longer base pads and real baseball situations.

The Babe Ruth Division is for ages 13-15 and 16-19. Teams play on a professional-sized 90 ft. baseball diamonds.

This year, the league is excited to be sponsoring training for managers, coaches, board members and parents from the Positive Coaching Alliance (www.positivecoach.org).

A player's league age is based on their age on April 30, 2012. New registrants to the league will need to provide a birth certificate (or other valid identification) that shows the player's birth date at the time of registration.

Registration fees for sign-ups are as follows:

•     Rookies (ages 6 to 8 years) - $145

•     Minors (ages 9 to 10) - $175

•     Majors (ages 11 and 12) - $175

•     Babe Ruth (ages13 - 15) - $225

•     Babe Ruth (ages16 -19) - $260 (includes $25 refundable uniform deposit)

All registration fees include a refundable $10 deposit for attendance at a Positive Coaching Alliance workshop for parents to be sponsored by the league.
